SPATIAL MATHEMATICAL MODELING OF STATIC COMPOST PILES WITH HEAT RECOVERY

Composting experiments with heat recovery reveal spatial non-uniformity in parameters such as temperature, oxygen concentration and substrate degradation. In order to recover from static compost piles via integrated exchanger there is the need investigate temperature distribution for placing exchangers interaction between recovery, degradation ensure quality of composting process. This study introduces a model predict variation controlling concentration, airflow patterns using Finite element method (FEM) COMSOL Multiphysics ® Version 5.3. The developed two-dimensional axisymmetric numerical considers compaction effects validated real case pilot-scale pile passive aeration. Strong matching experiment was achieved. demonstrated that effect extremely important realistic modeling because it affects airflow, distribution, consumption pile. Heat did not disrupt Case studies revealed strong influence convective loss through edges 10 % improvement rate ground insulation. simulation indicates an optimized pipes could increase average extraction by 10-40 %.
